During the Art Deco period. You can still see the small marks left by the maker hammering the metal into shape! The collar is made of 60% silver for durability, and was meant to be worn for a wedding. It features a graduated bib collar that is thickest at the center and thinner at the top of the bib. The top of the bib features two hollow repousséd triangular sections, with five loops on each side.
The loops are decorated with granulated bead accents, and have been used to string a byzantine woven chain, that acts as a loop closure on each side. Traditionally, a cord would have been run through the openings of the loops to tie them close, and adjust the length of the collar as necessary. The rest of the bib consists of twenty-three long, hollow quill-like sections, that were hand-strung at the top and bottom to prevent twisting. From each of these quills dangles a long hollow tapered cone rattle. The cones jingle together when worn, garnering attention through sound and shimmer. There is one missing dangle, and a clasp or cord will have to be added in order to be worn. Your local jeweler can easily assist you in this. The price has been adjusted to reflect this.

During the Art Deco Period jewelers often made jewelry upon custom order, this would often take weeks to months to completely craft by hand. Repoussé began as an ancient metal-working technique, involving malleable silver first formed with a specially created three-dimensional mold and then further refined by hammering from the reverse side and adding detail to the front. The finished work was intricate, with grooves, indentation and channeling. It was then carefully polished as an eye-catching treasure. The item "Antique Vintage Deco Sterling Silver Chinese Ethnic Wedding Bib Collar Necklace" is in sale since Sunday, December 10, 2017.
